The American Citizenship Award (ACA) recognizes student members of the Global Volunteer Recognition Program who demonstrate strong character, civic responsibility, and a commitment to school and community service. This nationally respected honor is presented by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).

This award is available exclusively to elementary, middle, and high school members of the Global Volunteer Recognition Program who meet the ACA criteria listed below.

American Citizenship Award Eligibility Requirements:

Students must meet the following criteria:

• Member of the Global Volunteer Recognition Program Participation in school and/or community service
• A positive attitude toward classmates, school, and community
• An understanding and appreciation of civic responsibility
• Strength of character and the courage to do what is right
• Promotion of citizenship through school or community activities
