One of the leading bands in the ever-expanding new wave of Belgian jazz, Compro Oro's wayward and psychedelic approach to a broad range of sounds has gained them a devoted fan base since the band's formation in 2014. Produced by Ghent-based multi-instrumentalist Dijf Sanders, Suburban Exotica digs deep into several ethnic music traditions, leaving the listener enthralled in dark grooves and rabid psychedelica. From the danceable beats and colorful sounds of "Miami New Wave", the exotic rhythms and textures of "10 Dollar Jeans Jacket", and the curious vibraphone infusions and wild guitar riffs of "Rastapopoulos", to the heady, bass-laden mover and shaker "Lalibela", and traditional Latin and Cuban rhythms of "Dark Crystal", Compro Oro offer wild, profound, and uncanny flavors that explore the best of Afro-Cuban music and jazz-tinged psychedelia. Suburban Exotica features drummer, keyboardist, and percussionist Joachim Cooder, son of guitar legend Ry Cooder who played on both the landmark Buena Vista Social Club albums and the Manuel Galban spin-off, Mambo Sinuendo. He adds percussion and his effects-laden electric mbira to three tracks on the album: "Miami New Wave", "Rastapopoulos", and "Dark Crystal". "I had a great time playing on this record. Compro Oro blends together so many interesting rhythms and styles that I never knew what was coming next. I like to work that way." On Suburban Exotica, Compro Oro's Wim Segers adds, "Thanks to Bart (Vervaeck) and saxophonist Nathan Daems (Black Flower), I've discovered Arab and Turkish music. I've learned to embrace my own neighborhood. When you live in this part of Ghent, Eastern rhythms are the beat of the street." Vervaeck chips in, "We aren't Cuban; we aren't Morocccan -we know that. We just sail from one coast to another. Finding our own place." CD version comes in a digipack.

Functional divider for windows privacy

I ordered both a six and eight panel version of the white divider. There was some confusion on the FedEx deliveries. The eight panel divider arrived at first, but Amazon showed both as delivered. I had to contact both the seller and Amazon to learn that the six panel divider was to arrive the following day by FedEx, which did occur. Both the boxes were a bit dirty and had some small punctures. This divider had a top area and bottom area set of plastic wrap tapes, both of which were loose or undone. (The eight panel divider was not so, and properly wrapped.) The top of thid divider looked a little dirty, but passable/cleanable. The seller should consider wrapping the entire product with bubble wrap to protect against potential delivery/shipping physical and water damage. (FedEx left the box by my outside door, which could have gotten potentially soaked in rain. One better be home to take delivery if the weather is bad.) This said, the divider was easy to set up, with all the metal hinges working. No assembly was required, just unboxing and standing up. The left side was a little uneven on the bottom with the first panel, but ok. In combination with my mini-blinds, it provides the additional layer of privacy I desired. I even don't notice outside headlights and tailights through the windows with my room lights on. Additionally, the divider is easy to adjust to allow access to my windows for opening and closing. So, no need for me to hang curtains and damage my drywall. Overall I give the product a C grade because of the lack of protection for the FedEx shipping. (As a former University told me years ago, "The A has been cheapened. In this class you will work for an A." And, I got a B. So, I am a bit jaded. :-)) Lastly, if one had cats and dogs, or even small children, the divider could be easy for them to topple over. I would not consider these dividerd in that case. My motto is, "Safety first."

Great Dividers

Love these!! Many uses. Simple, nice looking, sturdy overall. Well made.
Bought to divide the unsightly storage area from the calm rest area in the basement.
Also, these worked well for our garage party where the dividers let light and air in, though blocked the view of our party area from the cars driving by.

Just what I needed

I have a one bedroom apt and my son stays with me half the time. He has an air mattress in the living room until I can afford a 2 bedroom. But he’s in his early teens and needs privacy. I bought this after looking online at may of these. I’m so glad I went with this one. It covers his air mattress 3/4 of the way around and now he has his own little nook. I also gave him some led lamps and he might it like his own little nightclub. He LOVES it. And now he’s excited to be in his space. The quality is so good and there’s no see through, no gaps, it’s perfect.
