De horloge kastopener met mes is bedoeld om geperste, gedrukte achterdeksels gecontroleerd los te wippen. Het scherpe mesje schuift u precies tussen de kast en de deksel, waarna u met het ergonomische handvat gedoseerd druk zet om de deksel los te krijgen.

Dit type opener gebruikt u bij horloges met een snap-on caseback, bijvoorbeeld om de batterij te vervangen of het uurwerk te inspecteren. Het ergonomische handvat ligt stevig in de hand en geeft de controle die u nodig hebt om uitschieten te voorkomen. Voor geschroefde achterdeksels is dit mes niet geschikt, daarvoor gebruikt u een balopener of een sleutelopener.

Werk altijd op een zachte ondergrond en zoek de inkeping in de dekselrand op, want daar laat de deksel zich het makkelijkst lichten. Oefen gelijkmatige druk uit en houd uw vingers uit de baan van het mes. Wilt u de waterdichtheid van uw horloge behouden, laat de deksel dan na het sluiten testen door een professional.
