Deze mix gaat zijn weg in de aasmarkt snel veroveren! Als eerste leveren wij verse bloedwormen, het meest voorkomende natuurlijke voedsel in Nederlandse wateren. Geen enkel aas brengt tot dusver bij mijn aquariumspiegels het hoofd zo op hol als bloodworm. Bloodworm - ook wel rode muggenlarven genoemd - komen veelvuldig in  de Nederlandse wateren voor. Deze larven zijn van de Dansmug afkomstig.

De muggenlarven komen in allerlei oppervlaktewater voor, zelfs in troebel en vervuild water. Ze leven vaak op de bodem in kleine holletjes. De karper komt ze tegen bij het omwoelen van de bodem. Zodra de larven verpoppen komen ze naar de oppervlakte en zijn ze een zwakke prooi voor vele soorten vissen, waaronder de karper. Muggenlarven zijn voor veel vissen dan ook een zeer herkenbaar aas. De larven bestaan voor 55% uit eiwitten!
